General FAQs
How long should I expect to be in the office?
The actual procedure is rather brief, but you should expect to be
in the office for 4 to 5 hours. During this time you will complete
a medical history form and review it with an intake counselor. A laboratory
technician will take your weight, blood pressure, pulse and temperature.
She will also perform a finger-stick blood test and type your blood.
Is abortion safe?
Abortion is the most common outpatient surgical procedure in the country.
The Alan Guttmacher Institute, a leading public health research organization,
reports that abortion is 11 times safer than carrying a pregnancy to term.
It is nearly twice as safe as is getting an injection of Penicillin.
Will I be able to have children in the future?
Yes. There is no evidence of childbearing problems among women who
have had a safe, uncomplicated abortion and who wish to become pregnant at
a later time.
When is payment due and what form of payment may I use?
All fees are payable prior to services rendered. Payment may be
made in cash or by credit card. We honor Visa, MasterCard, American Express
or Discover. Sorry, we do not accept personal checks. If you are eligible
for reimbursement from an insurance company, we will assist you by filling
out the necessary forms.
I am not yet 18 years old. Can I get an abortion?
Yes, you have the right to have an abortion. However, as required
by the State of Georgia, everyone under the age of 18 must be accompanied by a parent or legal guardian. In the absence of a parent, judicial bypass is an option. A government-issued picture ID is required to prove parent or legal guardian status.
